The sport of boomerangs is well represented by some of the most interesting and capable athletes in the world. There have been world boomerang championship events since 1991 and a range of countries have won. Germany has won 3 times along with the USA. Team Brazil won in 2024 with a solid team effort and a lot of style! There have been individual overall world champions from Brazil and Switzerland and  many other individual event world champions from around the world. Some of the individual world records are mind boggling great. For example, the longest distance boomerang ever thrown with an accurate return is 238 meters. Such long distance boomerangs literally go out of sight and come back at you like a rocket. Don't even think about catching them. 

Manu Schuetz

Here is a long distance boomerang throw by world champion Manu Scuetz. Notice that he uses almost a sidearm throw for a long distance boomerang, rather than a conventional overhand throw for normal boomerang throwing:

Manu is also the current world champion in the fast catch event. He will go down in history as one of the highest achievers ever in the sport of boomerangs. We feature several of his boomerang designs on our website. A 4 time world record holder and 3 time world champion. Many time world champion if you count individual events. He has dominated long distance boomerangs for over 10 years now.
